Description:

Apollo MFG - previously Apollo Design technology - is one of the worlds largest distributors of manufacured gobo lighting fixtures. They rebranded to 'MFG' to expand their market to include more machine & metal manufacturing work. I worked closely with the entire Apollo team to bring the new brand to life and handled all video / animation / marketing / and web design for them for 2+ years.

(RE)INtroduction to the world

2d Animated hype video

Description:

After going through a year+ rebrand process, we needed a way to tell the world. I wanted to really explore the new color palette and build some excitement/personality. We ended up going with a 2D layered vector sequence.

I wanted this video to pay homage to our home town - Fort Wayne, Indiana,  give a gritty / metal manufacturing vibe for manufacturing, as well as integrate the historical significance of the name "Apollo."

I had a lot of fun with this and explored so many different aspects of manufacturing / machining. Half of these never saw the light of day - the fear of the higher ups was that people who are in the machining/manufacturing industry don't like fun / creativity, but I feel like that simply isn't true. Any industry can be fun and creative if you just explore what really makes the people who work in that industry tick and celebrate that as much as possible.

Highlight 2:

New website design + Developement

Description:

Part of the rebranding/restructuring process was to integrate a direct to consumer sales channel compared to going through dealers.

I was tasked with designing and developing a new Shopify website. I had never used Shopify before so I learned a lot. I rellied heavily on editorial product photography and placed everything on a clean receding gradient to give a sense precision and intention.

I wanted it to focus heavily on the mobile version of the site since that is where the majority of traffic would be coming from - machinists and shop owners in the shop or out in the field on their phones.

A big part of the process was producing new high end photography of all of the trinkets, lighting fixures, and metal gizmos we had laying around. We set up all of the products with identical lighting to really sell the idea of each object floating in the same space without having to do heavy 3D work.

The installation includes a microsite that is accessible by scanning a QR code next to each display. We worked with the Indiana Historical Society to create a site to house more information about each artist as well as recordings, historical documents, and more from their lives. I built the site using squarespace and mimicked the look and feel of the videos to match.
