Make something that will both inform and entertain a wide range of age groups, while setting the mood and transporting visitors into a dystopian, simulated world for our one-of-a-kind narrative-driven laser tag experience.
Deliverables included a 2 minute looping video for when 'test subjects' are entering into the waiting area and an animated 5 minute informational video that breaks down all of the rules and how to play as well as use the gear.
Process
We were in the concepting phase for probably a year before getting started. This is something you could take in so many directions that it was overwhelming at first. After a couple brainstorm sessions we decided on an operating system style because we thought it would translate well with the gamer community butstill be readable by older generations.
We started with a rough storyboard and then I set out to create styleframes that I would use to guide the look of the full video.
I ended up going with almost entirely red and black with white background to be fully readable to anyone unfamiliar with the experience.

Matchmaking loop
While attendees are filtering in and getting their gear we wanted to have some sort of loading screen that would loop to keep the experience asimmersive as possible. I used this loop to introduce the 2 opposing teams, tease the announcers, and show a BTS scene along with action clips from the experience.
Main briefing section
I wanted this to be as educational as possible while also still being as entertaining as possible. I had so much fun bringing this to life and could have easily spent another 200+ hours animating each scene. I truly cant thank my friends at Combat Ops for letting me take my time and cook on this overthe last year.
