Description:

I've been doing videos for my friends at Masterbrand for close to 6 years now. THe videos have ranged greatly in style, approach, and application, but the majorioty of videos can be categorized as informative sales tools for both retail and internal training.

Solution:

Craft videos that are as visually engaging as possible while still showcasing their products frotn and center.

Approach 1:

fully Animated

Description:

This approach is one I've utilized for more informative videos that don't relly on specific product lines. It's a great way to make an explainer video more engaging and interesting to consume. It also allows you to tell a story that would otherwise be boring a little more exciting.

Approach 2:

Mixed-media 2d style

Description:

This has been the go to style for the majority of videos I've done for them. It also happens to be my favorite type of motion design, because it is very adaptable to almost any subject matter and allows me to get the most visual bang for the buck while also not spending 100 hours on each video. When deadlines are quick and budgets are tight - this will always be my go to.

Outcomes

cabinetry built for everyone

Description:

As I've done more videos for them over the years, our relationship has grown to a point where I don't even need to do storyboard for every single video. I still think the storyboard phase is irreplacable on larger scale video innitiatives or when new material is being created, but most of the time retail videos or internal videos are an adaptation of an adaptation with a fresh coat of paint.

My style approach depends on which sub-brand of cabinet the video is for (they own 17 of them) but accross the board I use a mix of clean background with moving type and cutout imagery on top with soft dropshadow. I always try to think of the customer who is already overwhelmed with the task of redoing their kitchen or living space and make them as straightforward and calming as possible.

The installation includes a microsite that is accessible by scanning a QR code next to each display. We worked with the Indiana Historical Society to create a site to house more information about each artist as well as recordings, historical documents, and more from their lives. I built the site using squarespace and mimicked the look and feel of the videos to match.
